2011 WYOTA Ranking Procedure

WYOMING Points Per Round Ranking

2011 Wyoming Junior Ranking & Standings Requirements:

This system has been created to highlight and premiere the Wyoming Junior Tournaments. Results from all Wyoming District junior tournaments will be counted.

This system closely reflects Intermountain’s and National's Points Per Round Ranking System. Wyoming will only use the top 4 results from tournaments toward your Standings and Rankings. Like Intermountain, points earned in higher age divisions will count down toward a player's standing in one or more younger age divisions in addition to the higher age division. Aging up to a new age division requires careful planning. Players aging up may want to begin competing in the next higher age division three to six months before actually aging up.

Wyoming Year-End Singles Ranking (2011):

Each player’s annual year-end singles ranking will be based on the accumulation of points for winning rounds ("Points Per Round") at Wyoming Ranking Tournaments1 during the calendar year. They must accumulate at least 50 ranking points during the calendar year in order to earn a year-end ranking. Like the Standing's lists, points earned in that division and the higher age division will count towards ranking in that division. When a player's birthday makes them ineligible for that division, they will no longer earn points in the lower age division. The total number of points a player earns during the year is determined as follows:

Points Earned at 4 Best Wyoming Ranking Tournaments

= Total Ranking Points

Wyoming Juniors Standing Lists:

The Wyoming Standing List will include the previous 12 months of data based on the Points Per Round. Points earned in higher age divisions will count down towards a player's standing in one or more younger age divisions. You must play in 1 tournament to appear on the list. Results taken from the best four (4) tournaments will comprise your point total on the Standings List.

Specifics of the Wyoming Points Per Round Ranking System Include:

• A player must win a round to receive any points for the tournament. The point tables are based on draws as large as 256 players. In draws smaller than 256 players, players do not receive any points until they have won a round. Byes do not qualify as wins.

• Withdrawals and walkovers qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn Points Per Round.

• Retirements qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn Points Per Round.

• A player who advances because of a default that takes place before the commencement of the first point in the match or because the opponent is disqualified shall receive Points Per Round for advancing.

• A player who advances because of a default that takes place after the commencement of the first point in the match shall receive Points Per Round for advancing.

• A player who is defaulted from a tournament for code violations under the Point Penalty System or misconduct forfeits any points accumulated during the tournament. Players defaulted in singles only lose points accumulated for play in the singles main and feed-in championship draws.

• The final rankings for a junior age division shall include all players who have been age eligible for play in the division at any time during the year, met the ranking requirements for that age, and who have accumulated at least 50 points in the division. Points earned in that division and higher age division will count towards ranking in that division. Players may be ranked in more than one age division if they have been age eligible in more than one division during the year and have met the minimum point and tournament requirements for each age division. Once a player ages out of a division, they can no longer earn points towards their lower age division.

Answer to Common Question:

1. Why does my player’s record state "(Does not count toward total point)"?

Only your best two events will count to your Wyoming ranking/standings. If you have over two tournaments on your record, the ranking program automatically drops out the lower scores, and keeps your best two tournament results.

2. Why is someone who has the exact number of points as me, ranked higher?

Tiebreak Rules for Wyoming Standing Lists:

Tiebreaks on Wyoming Standing Lists will be determined as follows:

1. A player whose best event has the highest number of points, second best, third best, etc. through five events.

2. Total Bonus Points earned in all events played during the computation period.

3. Best random draw number.
