WY Special Olympics

October 24, 2012 02:56 PM
In 2012, the USTA Wyoming District partnered with WY Special Olympics to conduct clinics for their athletes and training workshop for their volunteers and coaches.

Our hope is that enough athletes will be interested in tennis and that tennis will become a part of the WY Special Olympic Summer Games. We are working with WY Special Olympics to provide tennis opportunities for all ages and ability levels – 36’ courts with foam balls, 60’ courts with orange balls, and 78’ courts with yellow balls.

A new program within Special Olympics, called the Unified Sports Programs, puts a high school tennis player and a Special Olympian as doubles partners. This is a GREAT way to make a difference to someone in your community! Consider taking the Unified Sports Program on as a High School Tennis Team community project.
