About USTA League Tennis

Established in 1979 to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels, USA League Tennis has approximately 550,000 participants. These players participated in three USA League Tennis national divisions - Adult, Senior and Mixed Doubles with the winners at each level advancing toward the final goal - National Championships. Individual sections offer additional league opportunities including Super Senior Doubles (age 60 & over), Mixed Senior (age 50 & over) and Combo Doubles where the combined NTRP ratings of the doubles team determine the level of participation.

The best thing about League Tennis is that you get to play on a team in a sport that is mostly thought of as an individual sport. There’s nothing like cheering each other on as the competition heats up. Teams usually represent a city or area in Wyoming, although it is possible to put together a team of players from different areas of the state.

In Wyoming we have Leagues in which anyone over the age of 19 can play.

Adult Leagues Adult leagues are gender specific and consist of teams of at least 8 players. Each round of competition consists of 2 singles matches and 3 doubles matches, and the number of rounds depends on the number of teams competing. The Adult league state playoff is held in Laramie every year, and this year occurs on the weekend of August 3-5, with the winners advancing to Salt Lake City the weekend of August 17-19. Rosters are due about 2 weeks prior, and the earlier the better.

Mixed Doubles There are mixed doubles (one woman and one man per doubles team) leagues in which you play on a team of a minimum of 3 women and 3 men, and each round of competition consists of 3 mixed doubles matches. The number of teams competing determines the number of rounds. There are two sessions a year and the first competition is held in Casper on the weekend of June 9, with the winner advancing to the Championships the weekend of July 6-8in Boulder Colorado. Fall Mixed will be held August 24-26.

Seniors Senior leagues are available in which doubles only is played, and each round consists of 3 doubles matches. The minimum age requirement is 50. The state playoffs will be held in Cheyenne this year the weekend of June 23-24, with the winners advancing to Boise, ID the weekend of September 21-23.
