2012 WYOTA Award Winners

USTA WY 2012 Volunteer Awards
 
Laramie, Wyoming – The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Wyoming District announced its 2012 outstanding player and volunteer awards following their October 21, 2012 Board of Directors meeting. USTA Wyoming is very proud to recognize the following 2012 Award Recipients
 
Marie Robertson Trophy:   Bob Faurot, Sheridan
 
This award is given from time to time at the Wyoming Tennis Association Annual Meeting for individual lifetime service to tennis within the Wyoming District. This award was first introduced in 1991 and given to Marie Robertson of Casper, WY
 
Junior Player of the Year:  Julia Fenn, Sheridan
 
This award is given annually to a junior tennis player within the Wyoming District who exemplifies the spirit of tennis through their activities on and off the court.
 
Junior Sportsmanship Award:  Sally Murray, Casper
 
This award is given annually to junior tennis player that shows outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the court. 
 
Family of the Year:  Soler Family (Ambrose, Stephanie, Julianne, Jaclyn, Christian, Brendan and Joelle), Casper
 
This award is presented annually to the family within the Wyoming District who has exemplified the benefits of tennis as a family recreational sport and has contributed to their tennis community in a significant way. 
 
Volunteer of the Year:  Dean Clower, Laramie
 
This award is given annually to Wyoming District’s Volunteer of the Year to recognize his or her outstanding contributions, personal unselfishness and devotion to the game.
 
Organization of the Year Award:  Cheyenne Country Club, Cheyenne
 
This award is given annually to a USTA Organizational Member which could include Community Tennis Association (CTA’s), Parks and Recreation Districts (P&R), Schools (elementary, middle and/or high school), Clubs (i.e., Boys and Girls Clubs, etc), and After-School providers. 
 
Media Excellence Award:  Sheridan Press
 
This award is given from time to time to outstanding Media (Print, TV, Radio, or Electronic) associations in the Wyoming District who go above the normal role of media to help promote the game of tennis in their area.
 
10 and Under Promoter of the Year:  Cheyenne Tennis Network (John Agin, Cheyenne P&R, Cheyenne Tennis Association, and After School for Kids – ASK)
 
This is a new award created in 2012. It will be presented annually to an individual or organization that is a leader in providing programming to our players aged 10 and under.  
 
Nominations were submitted by tournament directors, coaches, players and tennis enthusiasts around the state. After careful consideration, the WYOTA Board voted their choices for each award. The Awards Recognition is held around the state within each community. USTA Wyoming takes direction from a Board of Directors and volunteer committees. Without the dedication and commitment of its volunteers, WYOTA would not be able to effectively grow the game of tennis and introduce as many people to the sport of a lifetime.
