AT-LARGE CANDIDATES FOR USTA WYOMING BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCED

For Immediate Release

September 15, 2020:

The candidates standing for election to the USTA Wyoming Board of Directors for the 2020-2023 term have been announced.  The election will take place at the upcoming USTA Wyoming Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 - 11:30 am.  All current USTA Individual and Organizational members are welcome to participate.  The meeting is free of charge but registration is required by Wednesday, October 7th at 11:59 pm MT.

The Candidates and their Statements of Intent include:

JOE ASAY – POWELL, WY

“I picked up a racquet the summer before my senior year of high school. I haven't stopped swinging a racquet. When presented with the opportunity to coach the Panthers, I paused only briefly to discuss with my wife and consider how it would fit in with my work schedule as a CPA. Katy and I love the game together and have participated in local tournaments for years. Along with some other great tennis enthusiasts, through the Cody Tennis Association, we host three tournaments during the summer. I would love to see the same interest in tennis that we have here in Powell and Cody continue and grow throughout Wyoming. Our kids become better and more competitive with more competition. Thank you for your consideration and the opportunity to serve the Wyoming tennis community.”

CHERYL JOHNSON – LARAMIE, WY

“I am interested in being on the WYOTA board of directors again because I feel like there is so much unfinished business because of COVID.  If we ever get to play leagues again, I would like to see how the new regulations we put into place regarding state residency affect WY tennis.”

ERICA MEDLIN – LARAMIE, WY

“I would like to be a member of the Board because of my love and passion for the sport that has changed my life. And also, to help grow this sport in the state of Wyoming. I think I could help bring new ideas and experiences into the board and Wyoming tennis; social events and ways to get more involved, and I would also love to expand the junior program.”

AUSTIN STEGE – CHEYENNE, WY

“I would greatly appreciate being considered for re-election for the Board of Directors for the Wyoming Tennis Association. I am really passionate about growing tennis in many ways. I would love to help grow our junior tennis programs throughout the state. I also am passionate about growing adult play, not just in competitive leagues, but also local league play as well. I feel proud of the progress Wyoming Tennis has  made in the last few years and cannot wait to see where it goes next!  Thank you for your consideration.”
