USTA Adult Spring Mixed Doubles - A BLAST!

USTA Adult 18+ Mixed Doubles

A lot of people had a lot of FUN on May 3rd at the Wyoming USTA Adult 18+ Mixed Doubles playoffs in Casper.  Four teams competed for the 1st place slots and the right for advancement to the Intermountain Sectional Championships to be played in July 17 – 19th in Boise ID.

The Casper 7.0 Team won the right for advancement but that would not have happened if it had not been for a group of Cheyenne players that came to Casper to make sure there was a 2nd team so the 7.0 Division could even be played.  A “special shout out and thanks”  goes to Kathy Plowman, Priscilla and Bob Gill and to Sharon Colbert form Cheyenne for helping the Casper team get qualified.  You guys are the BEST!   CONGRATS goes to a new team captain, Rick Cumbow, for putting a team together from Casper and getting the advancement opportunity.  Players on the Casper – Team Cumbow include:  Barb Rea, Bill Boyer, Deb Theirault, John Yost, Karen Moenkhaues, Kristy Lamb, Lori Hendricks, Pat Mannina, and Rick Cumbow.  Rick was mentored by past Team Captain, John Yost, and how understand how much fun it can be to be a Team Captain.

The 8.0 Division was a battle between Casper (James Voorhies – Captain) and Cheyenne’s team (Jesse Chavez – Captain).  There were many close matches but in the end the Casper Team took the 1st place honors and will be advancing to the Sectional Championships in Boise ID. CONGRATS to the James Gang Team members:  Bonnie Ward, Jeff Cutts, Julie Voorhies, Kim Bryd, Michelle Kilmer, Pat Hopkins, Regan Hendricks, Rob Pettigrew, and James Voorhies.

The 6.0 event was rescheduled for a future date so if you still want to get in on some FUN give Dave a call or shoot him and email.
